You’re ready for spring, I’m ready for spring, by the time Imbolc gets here, we’re almost all ready for spring. This is also the time for spring cleaning so how better to celebrate Imbolc and clean your house at the same time?
It seems we’re always short on time so why not combine things to make it into one big celebration and be productive at the same time?
Most importantly is the snack. One simply cannot have the energy to clean without some great spring-y foods and perhaps a light meade to drink or a light grape juice or even just water. Another great option is moon tea.
First you clean. Music on! Dance!!
Then, once the cleaning is complete, you can begin the cleansing ritual.
- A bottle of water
- Sea salt
- Incense, or bundle of herbs for burning
- A blue candle
- Blessing Oil
- Cheap carry caddy or tupperware to carry everything
Begin at the front door, and say as you enter each room, following the walls of the house in a deosil pattern:
With the purifying power of water,
with the clean breath of air,
with the passionate heat of fire,
with the grounding energy of earth
I/we cleanse this space.
As you pass from room to room, anoint each door and windowsill with the blessing oil and sprinkle with salt. This prevents anything negative from crossing into the home.
As you leave each room say:
May the goddess bless this home,
making it sacred and pure,
so that nothing but love and joy
shall enter through this room.
After you have cleansed each room, it’s snack and wine/juice/water time.
