As a young witch I was taught, by default of my shape, the ways of the feminine divine.
A decade or more later I found my Priest. From him I have enjoyed learning the mysteries of the masculine. Knowledge that I wish had been taught to me alongside the the mysteries of the womb.
One such intertwined lesson we’ve discovered is the Yin and Yang of Letting Go.
How does the feminine let go?
Personally, I sleep. Like the waning Moon I gradually fade. An act of surrender, I drift into the astral with my worries and sorrows until we are all lost in the void. They dissolve. If I’ve done it right. Then I live in dreams for a time, until I can’t sleep any longer.
The feminine divine let’s go with acts of Yin.
How does the masculine divine let go?
My Priest teaches that the masculine divine requires exertion to release. He works. Throwing logs or raking leaves. Like the sun, he channels endless energy. His worries and sorrows are pushed through him, and out of him like the sweat on his brow.
The masculine divine let’s go with acts of Yang.
Note on Gender:
If you aren’t familiar with my work, I want to be clear that the terms “masculine” and “feminine” aren’t about a practitioners individual gender or genitals. They are a metaphor used to explain larger magical concepts.
Though many people will identify more with one than the other due to the body and hormones they have, everyone has access to both forces of Yin and Yang within them.
I personally hope for a future where the mysteries of the masculine and feminine divine are taught to all, together.
